In this paper, a mushroom type metamaterial (rectangular patch with via) is place in front SIW hornantenna. Here the horn antenna is placed in front of metamaterial with and without in order to analyze the │S11│. By themetamaterial, radiation pattern is observed. For the SIW horn antenna, the operating frequency is 15GHz with thesubstrate FR-4. When the metamaterial is loaded at the horn antenna, the bandwidth is improved. This improvement isdue to the metamaterial as it is acting as an impedance transformer. The directivity of the gain is achieved in both withand without mushroom type metamaterial.
