Microgrid is one of the new conceptual systems forintegrations of various distributed generations (DGs). Most ofthe microgrids adopt AC distribution systems, whileDCmicrogrids are proposed and researched for better connectionwith DC output type sources such as photovoltaic (PV) system, fuel cell, and battery storage system. Moreover, if loads in thesystem are supplied with DC power, then conversion losses fromsources to loads are eliminated compared with AC microgrid.DCmicrogrid is a novel power system using DC distribution thatprovides high quality power. The proposed DC microgridarchitecture consists of a photovoltaic generation unit, electricvehicle battery charging, and DC load. Corresponding controlstrategy of each unit is presented.Maximum power pointtracking (MPPT) technique is applied to photovoltaic (PV)system to extract maximum available power from it. Simulationresults verify the effectiveness of the proposed DC microgrid.
