Texture analysis can provide very useful andvital information for content-based image analysis. Textrecognition and analysis includes many applications suchas: license plate recognition, sign detection as welltranslation, helping tourists and blind persons tounderstanding environment, drawing attention of a driver,content-based image search and so on. Locating text incase of variation in style, colour, as well as complex imagebackground makes text reading from images morechallenging. in this paper the various techniques availablefor detecting and recognizing text are explained, finally ahybrid approach using segmentation explained which canimprove the qualitative texture analysis among othertechniques.
