Abstract

— Brain tumour is an abnormal growth of the cellsinside the brain. Detecting Brain tumour takes special skills andtechniques because they are difficult to detect – especially inearly stages. The boundary of the tumour (i.e. the abnormality inbrain) in an MRI or different medical image can be traced usingimage processing techniques. Segmentation is often essential as apreliminary step for medical image analysis for diagnosis andstudy of abnormality. The input image to the system is takeneither from the available data base or the real time image, Sothat the presence of tumour in input image can be detected andthe area of the tumour can also be analysed. The paper is basedon the survey of different brain tumor detection techniques.
