The time-delay is the major problem in the most ofindustrial processes. It is very difficult to control such processesusing Conventional controllers because time-delay introduces theoscillations in response. The effect of time delay on processes canbe effectively controlled by the Model-based Predictive Controlmethod. Smith predictive control is one of the possibleapproaches to control systems with time-delay. The Least SquareMethod (LSM) has been used to identify the parameters ofprocess. This paper deals with a designing of the Digital SmithPredictor with PID controller in its structure.MATLAB/SIMULINK has been used for simulation of the SmithPredictor with PID.
