India is the world’s fifth largest energy consumer and it is expected to become the third largest by 2030.India has only 0.4% of the world’s proven oil reserves. India’s domestic natural gas reserves are also limited. Fossilfuels are also be used as energy source in future. Ii is important to take steps towards renewable energy sources forpreserving fossil fuel sources for future. Biofuels are helpful to solve the energy security problems in India. It isimportant to proceed towards non-edible feedstock for energy production and use of non-agricultural lands for theproduction of feedstock for biofuel. This will solve the problem of food v/s energy security.
