Routing in MANET is a challenging problem due to nodes mobility, dynamic topology and lack of central pointlike base station. Clustering of devices in MANET could reduce overhead, flooding and collision in communication and makethe network topology more stable. Clustering can be made effective in CBAR (Cluster Based Improved Ant-ColonyOptimization Routing)MANETs by opting for a cluster head mechanism which ensures that control rests with a singlepowerful node within a cluster. This cluster head takes on the responsibility of routing the packets efficiently by coordinatingwith the base station. Generally route maintenance and route discovery is a very important mechanism for maintaining routelife. However, due to node mobility in CBAR MANETs, frequent link breakages may lead to frequent path failures and routediscoveries, which could increase the overhead of routing protocols and reduce the packet delivery ratio and increases theend-to- end delay.
