- A simple, eco-friendly green synthesis of copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO-NPs) using Ocimum sanctum and vitexnegundo leaf extract was reported. The prepared CuO-NPs was characterized by UVβvis spectroscopy which exhibited thesurface plasmon resonance (SPR) band at 280β320 nm. SEM , TEM and EDX analysis confirmed that CuO-NPs andidentified elements Cu and O. X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectrum showed the crystalline nature of the prepared CuO NPs andits particle size is 30nm. FTIR spectrum confirmed the presence of CuβO functional groups. CuO-NPs showed significantphotocatalytic activity against Rhodamine B dye.The results of this study revealed that O.sanctum and V. negundo leafextract were found to be an effective bio-reducing agent for CuO-NPs synthesis and also the photocatalytic activity of CuONPs may be useful for its applications in medical and textile industries.
