Abstract

The preferred drug delivery system today is represented by tablets, which aremanufactured using tablet press machine in which powder is filled in a die and thatpowder is compressed in a die by upper and lower punch. The objective of the project isto relook into the design of the machine and to reduce the weight of machine componentlike Upper Plate, lower roll housing, upper roll carrier. 3D CAD model of rotary tabletpress is prepared in Solid Edge. Deflection and stresses at various critical points aredetermined using FEA tools. Redesign and optimization of the same components ofmachine is carried out Considering the Tablet Specification Manual standards at the sametime keeping comparable machine structure accuracy and productivity.
