Abstract

This paper is intended to review the significant development in thermal modelling & analysis of Power
transformer in last decade. Contents in this review paper starts with introduction of Power transformer and its role in the
power system and industry. Different analysis methods which can be used to get best suited method of analysis of power
transformer to achieve the thermal analysis of transformers are discussed. Circuit based Modelling and Finite Element
Method (FEM) are the two latest methods developed in last decade based on computer simulations. This paper reviews
this two methods for obtaining thermal analysis of Power transformer.
