Harmonic Distortion in Electrical Distribution Systemis increasingly growing due to the widespread use of Non-LinearLoads and Power Electronics Switching Devices. Largeconsiderations of these loads have the potential to raiseHarmonic Current & Voltage in an Electrical DistributionSystem. To mitigate this distortion, we are interested in ActivePower Filter technology. In this technology, we produce specificcurrent components that cancel the Harmonics Currentcomponents caused by the Non-Linear Load. Particular “ShuntActive Power Filter” is mostly used as Active Power Filter. It hasadvantages of carrying only the Compensation Current plus asmall amount of Active Fundamental Current supplied tocompensate for system losses & also contribute to ReactivePower Compensation. Shunt Active Filter will be reviewed as aconcept of solving certain types of problems related to PowerQuality.
