Over the last years, with technologicaladvancements wind power has grown rapidly and becomes the mostcompetitive form of renewable energy especially for VS-WECS ascompared to fixed velocity system. Most of system does not capturepower at every wind speed, especially low wind speed. To achievethis outcome at variable speed wind energy conversion system (VSWECS) here Permanent magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) isused which eliminates gear box. A simple Maximum Power PointTracking (MPPT) control Scheme is used for PMSG with diodebridge rectifier and grid side inverter. The Power Conversion arePerformed at unity power factor and DC link voltage is maintainedconstant. An Algorithm named Perturbation and Observation isdeveloped at MPPT for maintaining constant voltage at output sidein spite of variation in wind speed. Modeling and simulation of thegrid side of the wind turbine system are performed. Results areverified through the MATLAB simulations.
