In this research, comparing of algorithms take place which results in oil spill tracking, less time consuming, oilspill area, patches and spill patterns. This work helps in regular monitoring of oil spills. This approach find out whichalgorithm is best suited for detection and tracking of oil spill in ocean with low time complexity. In this work input imagetaken from ASAR RADAR SAT-2 from Gulf of Mexico region. Here Adaptive Thresholding can be used as a good tool formonitoring and identifying the occurrence of oil spill. Adaptive thresholding helps to determine dark patches, bands andpattern for the given data set. Adaptive is important because radar contrast depends on condition of weather for detection ofdark spot, look alike and surrounding water, which may change in investigation. In image threshold levels depends on angleincidence even in constant conditions in image. According to pre determined rule threshold level should changed. In maskoperation mapping from one pixel to a new oneβs process take place, pixel modifies according to equation and are notdependent on neighborhood.
