Monitoring the road condition has gain significant importance in last few years. There are various reasonsfor extending research in this field: first, it will ensure safety and comfort to various road users; second, smooth roadswill lead to less vehicle damage and government investment; third, the availability of low cost sensors in Smartphone’s;fourth, the rapid increase in the rate of Smartphone users. Thus, it is necessary to develop systems which are able todetect road conditions using sensors present in Smartphone. Several methods have been proposed towards addressingthis problem. This paper reviews the various road conditions detection systems.
