— Metakaolin is a dehydroxylated form of the clay mineral kaolinite. Metakaolin is refined kaolin clay that isfired (calcined) under carefully controlled conditions to create an amorphous aluminosilicat e that is reactive in concrete.Metakaolin reacts with the calcium hydroxide (lime) byproducts produced during cement hydration. Calcined between600° and 850°C the kaolin is transformed to an amorphous phase called Metakaolin. This mineral is activated andmetastable. Metakaolin can then react with cement and lime. Heating above 900°C produces mullite, a non pozzolanicmaterial. The study is to investigate the mechanical properties of Normal concrete with different replacement levels ofordinary Portland cement by Metakaolin. The standard cubes (150mmX150mmX150mm) were caste. In all specimenswith M25 grade mix proportional (1:1:2) cases were caste and tested. The material testing lick cement, fine aggregate(Sand) and coarse aggregate (Kapchi). The strength effect of Normal concrete of various amounts of replacement ofcement viz., 0%, 3%, 5% with Metakaolin of M25 grades were compared with that of the Normal concrete withoutMetakaolin. The compressive strength at 7 and 28 Days have been obtained.
