Abstract

In this new era of Big Data, cheap data storage devices and processing power are becoming readily available;organizations are collecting massive volumes of data with the intent of deriving insights and making decisions. Hadoopprojects treat Security as a top agenda item. Be it financial applications that are deemed sensitive to healthcare initiatives,Hadoop is traversing new territories which demand security-subtle environments. With the growing acceptance of Hadoop, there is an increase in trends to incorporate more and more enterprise security features. Over time we have seen Hadoopgradually develop to label important issues pertaining to what we summarize as 3ADE (authentication, authorization, auditing, and encryption) within a cluster. As Hadoop runs on conveyed environment, it utilizes ware equipment. Ware is asystem required to show a solid security instrument. In this case kerberos is utilized for validation as it offers the ability togain control over rundown and review components. Kerberos guarantees the information put away in the Hadoop recordframework that is secure. However the diversity of data sources, formats, and data flows, combined with the streamingnature of data collection and high volume create unique security risks. Having all the data present in one place increases therisk of data security and any kind of data breach. This kind of disadvantage can lead to negative publicity and a loss ofcustomer confidence.Hadoop is one of the main technologies powering Big Data implementations. In this paper, we cover some of the ways inwhich data security can be ensured while implementing Big Data solutions using Hadoop.
