Road accidents are one of the major concern in present heavy traffic flow. Road accidents are caused bymiss-judgments, driver drowsiness, negligence of surrounding objects while driving, unintended lane change, weatherconditions and not following traffic rules, etc. It is essential to overcome these issues for promising autonomous vehicletechnology. For an autonomous vehicle to drive the vehicle in a safe roadway, it is necessary to detect the lanes on theroads, the vehicle position, and state, and take the remedial actions such as alerting or assisting when the vehicleunintentionally drifting towards the lane. In this paper, different lane detection techniques detailed by differentresearchers are discussed.
